Game Design Intern

We at Lost Native are looking for a talented, self-driven Game Design Intern to join us in showcasing our cozy-competitive debut title to the world. The game is fully funded by Private Division and is coming to PC and Console in 2024.

As an Game Design Intern, you will design content, improve upon features, and create player experience improvements. This internship involves various design tasks including, but not limited to, system, narrative, and general game design. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading design discussions and designing and iterating on new designs from concept to completion. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain early career experience in a highly motivated, fast-paced, and understanding environment.

This is a fully remote freelance role with a chance of extension.

👩🏻‍💻 Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and maintaining design documentation.

  • Organising and running brainstorming sessions, acting as the north star for the product vision.

  • Working closely with the Design Leadership on game balance, scripting events, design documentation, and all things gameplay-related.   

  • Working closely with the team to ensure that the design specifications meet the project's quality expectations and product goals.

  • Focusing on the player experience as the ultimate metric for any feature and content quality.

  • Writing an interesting narrative that matches the tone and theme of the game.

  • Aggregating and consolidating feedback, both from the team and community.

  • Evaluating feedback and improving features based on your analysis.

  • Working within limitations of scope, timelines, and style.

  • Iterating on work based on feedback.

  • A passion to learn and grow as a designer.

  • Solid theoretical and practical Game Design knowledge.

  • A strong sense of what makes a gameplay experience compelling and fun, as well as the ability to articulate why a game design decision is good or bad.

💡 It would be amazing if you have:

  • Extensive experience playing CCGs.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of recent and upcoming releases.

  • An deep knowledge of games past and present.

  • Experience working in Unity.

  • Experience using source control (i.e., Sourcetree or Git).
